BBQ Baby Back Ribs
June 26, 2024
Whether it's a hot summer day and you want to dine al fresco but don't want to stand in front of a hot grill or it's a cold winter night and you're craving a meal that's savory and satisfying, this easy baby back rib recipe is guaranteed to hit the spot. It's the perfect protein for your summer picnics or backyard BBQs!
Made with a mouthwatering homemade spice rub and delicious Primal Kitchen Classic BBQ Sauce, these tender, flavorful slow cooker baby back ribs are ready to fall off the bone and straight into your mouth. Unsweetened and USDA organic, our sauce is the real deal: free from high fructose corn syrup, cane sugar, or artificial sweeteners and packed with a smooth, slightly smoky taste and texture.
Rather than spending extra time in the backyard over a hot grill, we took the quick and easy route with our Instant Pot. To get that perfectly chargrilled exterior on your Instant Pot baby back ribs, simply oven-bake on broil for several minutes or place them on a preheated grill until they reach the ideal color.

Don't have time to grill? Cook up delicious baby back ribs in your Instant Pot, then transfer to your oven or grill for the last few minutes. Made with our delicious unsweetened Classic BBQ Sauce and a homemade spice rub, these slow cooker ribs deliver big flavor without the cane sugar or corn syrup found in many restaurant versions of BBQ ribs.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
- 2 tsp cumin seeds, lightly toasted
- 1 tsp coriander seeds, lightly toasted
- 1/4 cup paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 racks baby back ribs
-
Primal Kitchen BBQ Sauce
Directions
Make the spice rub:
Grind the mustard, cumin, and coriander seeds into a fine powder.
Combine with paprika, garlic powder, cinnamon, and black pepper in a small bowl.
Make the ribs:
Remove the membrane from the back of the baby back ribs by getting a butter knife under it and using a paper towel to grab hold and pull the membrane away.
Rub the spice mix into the ribs. Cover with foil, and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Pour about a cup of water into the bottom of your Instant Pot or pressure cooker, along with a trivet or steam rack. Add the ribs, standing them up on their sides. Cook for 25 minutes with high pressure. Allow the pressure to release for 10 minutes before opening the lid and removing the ribs.
Fire up your grill or broiler. Slather ribs with Primal Kitchen BBQ Sauce. Broil or grill for 2-3 minutes per side. Serve and enjoy!
