If you’re anything like us, you head straight for the finger foods when you step foot into a game day party or holiday event. I mean, who can focus on scores or gift exchanges with a rumbling stomach? Among the chips & dips, chicken wings, and meatballs on toothpicks, there’s one cozy comfort dish that always has us reaching for more: pigs in blankets. Imagine sinking your teeth into a sizzling hot dog, wrapped in a flaky, golden pastry shell that crumbles with every bite. Your taste buds are tantalized by the savory aroma, and your mouth waters at the thought of experiencing that perfect blend of crispy and soft textures.
If you thought this classic party app was off the menu for grain-free folks, we’ve got a delicious surprise for your next event. Ingredients
- 4 grass-fed beef hot dogs
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
- 2 Tbsp cream cheese
- 1 cup Bob’s Red Mill Paleo Baking Flour
- 1 large egg
-
1 tsp sesame seeds
- Primal Kitchen Ranch Dressing, for dipping
Directions
Cut hot dogs into thirds.
- Place mozzarella cheese and cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 90 seconds until soft. Mix well.
- Add Bob’s Red Mill Paleo Baking Flour to the bowl and mix lightly. Add 1 egg and knead with your hands until a dough forms.
Separate the dough into 12 equal-sized pieces. Roll one piece of dough into a 5-inch tube. Flatten the dough tube and carefully wrap it vertically around the center of a hot dog piece. Place the pig-in-a-blanket on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and hot dog pieces.
- Drizzle “pigs” with Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 20 minutes and 400°F. Serve with Primal Kitchen Ranch, for dipping.
