If you’re in the mood for a burger but want something a little different, this easy ground chicken burger is the answer! Cooking ground chicken breast can be tricky because it has less fat than most ground beef, which can make your patty end up dry like the desert. We solved the potential Sahara situation by tucking grated sweet potato into the mix, which adds moisture along with a pop of sweet and savory flavor.
Together with a dash of spices, you’ll get a mouthwatering burger that’s primed and ready to be customized. Stick with the classics, like LTO plus ketchup and mayo, or take a taste adventure by topping your burger with roasted red peppers and a dollop of salty feta. You can also swap out the traditional bun for a gluten-free tortilla or lettuce wrap if that suits your eating plan better.

Grated sweet potatoes add juiciness to these delicious chicken burgers topped with your favorite veggies and condiments. They’re super easy to make, plus they shake up your regular burger routine with lean meat that slides right into your weekly meal plan.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground chicken breast
- 1 cup grated white sweet potato
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 1/3 cup chopped parsley
- 2.5 tablespoons Primal Kitchen Olive Oil, divided
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos

2 teaspoons Primal Kitchen Spicy Mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup gluten-free flour
- 5 gluten-free buns

- Lettuce, tomato, onion
- Cooked bacon strips, if desired

Directions
Grate the sweet potato using the medium side of a box grater.
- In a bowl, combine the ground chicken, sweet potato, onion, parsley, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, egg, coconut aminos, mustard, and spices.
- Add the flour. Mix until combined and let the chicken mixture rest for 5 minutes.
- Heat the remaining 1.5 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.
- Form the ground chicken mixture into 5 large patties and place them in the skillet.
- Cook the patties for about 5 minutes, then carefully flip them over. They should lift easily from the pan, but if they don’t, let them cook for an additional 30 seconds or so and try again.
- Cook on the other side for about 5 more minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken burgers reads at least 165°F. Remove the burgers from the heat and allow them to cool slightly.
- Assemble your burgers with Primal Kitchen Mayo, ketchup, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and anything else you’d like. Serve alongside chips or fries and enjoy.
