ICYMI, Primal Kitchen has added to our line-up of salad dressings and marinades, with three new options made with premium grass-fed dairy:
- Tzatziki Style Dressing is made with grass-fed yogurt and packed with Mediterranean flavor from herbs like dill and spearmint.
- Creamy Romano is your everyday Italian upgrade. Grated grass-fed romano cheese gives this dressing a divine texture for dipping, dressing, or dunking.
- Buttermilk Ranch tastes homemade with a rich, creamy flavor from grass-fed buttermilk and avocado oil.
But wait, you might be thinking, Primal Kitchen already makes an uncompromisingly delicious Ranch Dressing. What does the new Buttermilk Ranch bring to the table?
Great question! Let us walk you through the similarities and differences between original favorite and the new kid in town, plus how we're using both in our own kitchens.
The More Ranches the Better
First things first, our classic Ranch Dressing isn't going anywhere. As far as we're concerned, you can never have too much ranch. Buttermilk Ranch is expanding our offerings so there's even more ranch to love.
Both dressings deliver crave-worthy flavor, and of course, both are made with real, honest ingredients like avocado oil, herbs and spices. You won't find seed oils or artificial flavors or artificial sweeteners in our ranches! But there are some differences, too.

The most noteworthy distinction is that the original Ranch Dressing is made without dairy ingredients, while the new Buttermilk Ranch is made with grass-fed buttermilk. Both have a dreamy, pourable texture, but the creaminess in our no-dairy Ranch Dressing comes from an emulsification of avocado oil and egg yolks.
You can use either dressing in any recipe that calls for ranch. Whether you're drizzling, dunking, or cooking with them, both will enhance your other ingredients and add smooth, creamy deliciousness. That said, here is how we are primarily using these two beauties:
- We reach for No-Dairy Ranch when tossing together a crunchy green side salad, pasta salad, or cucumber salad. It works fabulously as a marinade for all manner of protein, too. And of course, if you or any of the guests at your dinner table avoid dairy for any reason, this is 100% the dressing for you!
- Buttermilk Ranch’s indulgently creamy texture means it’s ideal for dipping fresh veggies and thick-cut steak fries or sweet potato fries. Drizzle over slices of wood-fired pizza or include on your next charcuterie board or wing platter. Pour generously over a classic wedge salad with bacon.

No matter which ranch you choose, you can eat happily knowing you're enjoying the real ingredients and unbelievably delicious flavors you expect from Primal Kitchen!
