What is Canned Fish?

Considered a processed food, canned fish is fish that has been hermetically sealed into an airtight container. Many folks turn to canned fish as a way to reduce food waste, as it can last up to five years and is shelf-stable. Canned fish doesn’t require refrigeration until it’s opened, and is more cost-effective to transport and purchase.

Does Canned Fish Have Mercury?

Mercury amounts will vary based on the fish you’re consuming. Generally speaking, albacore tuna will have a higher mercury content than skipjack tuna. Whenever consuming fish, be mindful of moderation–especially with children.
