Hey, grill friends! We’re all for cooking chicken wings and drummies on an open flame with the weather is good and your energy is high. But what if it’s raining, you’re too tired to clean the grill, or the outside temperature rivals the surface of the sun? On those days, we air fry—and we’re proud of it.

Slathered with our savory, smoky Primal Kitchen Unsweetened Classic BBQ Sauce and air fried until crispy and golden, this delicious chicken recipe makes for an easy weeknight meal, a keto-friendly afternoon snack, or a game day get-together. Our sauce is made with purposeful ingredients and no cane sugar, corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners, making it a great choice for a variety of diets.

All you’ll need besides the chicken and sauce is a handful of standard pantry spices and an air fryer, and your chicken will be ready in just a half-hour. Since you only need to flip your bird once, there’s still plenty of time in-between to water your plants, tackle a chore, or squeeze in a few reps. Once your air fryer bell rings, serve with celery sticks, carrots, and Primal Kitchen Ranch for dipping!

Cooked in an air fryer, this quick and easy chicken recipe delivers the crispy exterior of traditional BBQ wings without the extra grease. After air frying the BBQ chicken, we like to let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Resting allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in juicier and more flavorful chicken.

Ingredients

2 pounds chicken wings and drumettes
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup Primal Kitchen Classic BBQ Sauce

For serving:

Carrot chips
Celery sticks
Primal Kitchen Ranch Dressing

Directions

Preheat your air fryer to 350ºF for about 3 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper and stir to combine.
Sprinkle this seasoning mixture over the chicken pieces, coating them evenly.
Place the chicken in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer over parchment paper liners (or you can lightly spray with Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Spray). You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook the chicken for 12 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through.
Generously brush BBQ Sauce over both sides of the chicken and air fry for 3 more minutes to slightly caramelize.
Once cooked, let it rest in the basket for about 5 minutes before serving.
Serve with carrots, celery, and Primal Kitchen Ranch Dressing, if desired.

Make sure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer. This ensures that any harmful bacteria present in the chicken are killed.
