Sweet and spicy honey mustard turns up the heat on these glazed Brussels sprouts with bacon. They're perfect for holiday meals or as a delectable side dish for simple roasted chicken, pork chops, or a nice steak dinner.
Ingredients
1½ lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed & halved
4 oz thick-cut bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces

2 Tbsp Primal Kitchen Pure Avocado Oil
- ¾ tsp kosher salt, plus more to taste
- ½ tsp black pepper

3 Tbsp Primal Kitchen Hot Honey Mustard, plus more for dipping

1 Tbsp Primal Kitchen Balsamic Vinegar
1 Tbsp coconut aminos or tamari
1 tsp lemon zest (optional, for garnish)
Directions
Heat oven to 450°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Toss Brussels sprouts with avocado oil, salt, and pepper. Spread cut-side down. Roast 14–16 minutes until well browned.
While Brussels roast, sauté bacon in a skillet over medium until crisp, 5–7 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside, reserving 1 Tbsp bacon fat to use in the next step.
Make glaze: In a small bowl whisk hot honey mustard, balsamic vinegar, coconut aminos, red pepper flakes, and reserved bacon fat.
Remove Brussels sprouts from oven. Add the cooked bacon to the baking sheet and drizzle the glaze over everything. Carefully toss to coat. Return the pan to the oven for 3–4 minutes until glaze is glossy and sticky.
Remove from oven and optionally sprinkle with lemon zest. Taste and adjust salt.
Serve with a ramekin of Hot Honey Mustard for dipping, and enjoy!
Recipe Note
For a vegetarian side dish, omit the bacon and substitute ¾ cup chopped mushrooms.
Optionally add ¼ cup chopped pistachios or almonds for crunch.
