After achieving new heights of wellness and vitality through real-food eating, Mark Sisson set out to create the world’s best-tasting, real-food pantry staples, starting with a mayonnaise made with avocado oil. Today, with a full suite of products, Primal Kitchen® delivers on its promise of uncompromisingly delicious condiments, dressings/marinades, avocado oils, protein bars, collagen protein powder and bars, and whey protein that are full of beneficial, natural fats, clean protein and the highest quality ingredients.

Primal Kitchen products are unlike any others that you’ll find in the grocery store. The entire collection aims to exquisitely satiate while also packing nutritious ingredients—like avocado oil, collagen, oil of oregano and apple cider vinegar—that are free of dairy, gluten, grain, refined sugar and soy.

As Mark would say, EAT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, because it does.

I'm a New York Times best-selling health author, blogger and entrepreneur, and I have a confession to make... I love to eat!

I’ve spent three decades researching and educating folks on why food is the key component to achieving and maintaining optimal health. I was once an elite endurance athlete who lost both health and vitality through an oppressive training regimen and a highly inflammatory diet. I vowed then that I would find a way to be as fit, strong and healthy as possible, with the least amount of pain, suffering and sacrifice required.

After extensive research and years of experimenting, I regained my health and enjoyment of life by simply changing how I ate. I was so blown away by the dramatic shifts in my own health that came from simply rethinking my food choices, that I started to wonder how many tens or hundreds of millions of others might be suffering the same fate.

I started blogging in 2006 at Mark’s Daily Apple about my life’s transformation with this incredible new way of eating and living. Since then, millions of people have followed the advice in my blog and best-selling books, The Primal Blueprint and Primal Endurance, and have experienced similar remarkable turnarounds. Most recently, many have enjoyed the power of metabolic flexibility gained through a keto reset, which is outlined in my latest New York Times best seller: The Keto Reset Diet.

How it All Began

In just five short years, Primal Kitchen has catapulted from a small but mighty natural foods start-up to an industry-disrupting leader in the real-food dressings and condiments space. Read through the milestones that helped shape the birth and success of our much-loved brand.

From Scrawny to Collegiate Track Star

Mark excels in high school track, and heads off to race for Williams College, where he studies biology. Mark’s Primal instincts begin to ignite as his interest in evolution and human performance grows.

Olympic Trial Heartache – Moving from Pain to Purpose

Mark’s dreams are dashed when he misses his trial race due to medical ailments, including GI issues, arthritis, heartburn and tendinitis. Rather than give up, Mark dedicates himself to finding solutions for his faltering health, not yet fully knowing that the conventional wisdom of the day for endurance athletes—load up on carbs and overtrain—were to blame.

Crossing the Finish Line

Addicted to endorphins and the thrill of competition, Mark finishes 4th in the IRONMAN World Championship. After a few years, Mark kicks off a career consulting and leading the International Triathlon Union’s anti-doping program. He is instrumental in bringing triathlon to the Olympic Games.

A Beautiful Bird, a Flourishing Family

Mark marries his beautiful fiancé, Carrie, and they have their first daughter, Devyn. Mark’s son, Kyle, is born later in LA. Mark continues to make health, wellness and everyday enjoyment of life his mission.

A Brand Is Born

Mark begins blogging about nutrition, fitness, and ancestral health content on a site called Mark's Daily Apple. With a growing audience becoming engrossed in the unconventional content Mark publishes, his audience demands a collection of his insights. Mark self-publishes The Primal Blueprint, which becomes a best-selling manifesto. And, Grok becomes the iconic Primal persona.

Expanding on Mark’s mission to make clean eating easy and exciting, Primal Kitchen® launches the #1 selling mayo on Amazon.

The Keto Reset Debuts and Becomes New York Times Best-Seller

Mark unveils his groundbreaking ketogenic diet plan that teaches people how to achieve metabolic flexibility and live their best lives. He follows up on the best seller with two other books, The Keto Reset Instant Pot Cookbook and The Keto Reset Cookbook.
