How to Build a Charcuterie Board
Traditionally, charcuterie boards pair with cocktails instead of coffee. Often associated with wine tastings or appetizers, charcuterie usually refers to a selection of meats and cheeses assembled with crackers, nuts, or jams.
Our breakfast board still focuses on flavor pairings, but with a homestyle spin. We pulled together eggs, hand-held waffle bites, creamy guac, smoked salmon, berries and crudité along with a series of sauces and garnishes for our board.
To build your board, start with a hefty platter or cutting board that can support all your fixings. A few ramekins or small bowls are perfect for dips and dunks, and should be placed on the board first. Next, place your larger items and arrange them next to complementary sauces or herbs. Finish your board by filling any extra space with garnishes, or extra nibbles.
Easy Brunch Recipes for Your Board
We created this tasting plate with these delicious brunch charcuterie board recipes. Jammy Eggs are an old-school breakfast staple, and add savory flavor to the board. We included some Buffalo Sauce for an unexpected, kicky, medium-heat dip. You could also make hard-boiled eggs, if that’s more your style.
Vanilla Collagen Waffles served with syrup add a touch of sweet to the mix. Gluten-free and with an added side of hair, skin, and nail support from collagen peptides, cutting these waffles into hand-held triangles upgrades the diner classic to a chic finger food.
The battle at brunch always comes down to savory versus sweet. The beauty of the brunch board means you never have to choose! This creamy guacamole made with Pesto Mayo is the ideal rich dip for crispy bacon, or fresh veggies.
We rounded out our board with smoked salmon, fresh berries and chopped vegetables, a few strips of crispy bacon and sliced cheese. You can accessorize your spread with even more nibbles like almond flour crackers, pesto egg salad, or asparagus dip for an overflowing effect!
